Mission Statement

Enriching lives from working together to create prosperous communities through shared experiences and resources.

Vision

Creating prosperous communities where everyone thrives through partnerships and collaborations.

Origin of an Idea

Like Pycroft, what the Lions Barber Collective is doing is nothing short of heroic.

Founded by Tom Chapman in 2015,

it started off as a one-off barbering lookbook project to raise awareness and funds for suicide prevention – Tom had lost a friend to suicide the year before and was personally aware that suicide had become the biggest killer of men under 50, in the UK.

Why Beauty Professionals

beauty professionals spend a lot of time listening & caring for their clients.

"It’s been joked about forever that hair pros are cheap psychiatrists or counselors. But in reality, we listen on average for 2,000 hours a year. We do this anyway -- so imagine what we could achieve by training hair pros to be more successful in suicide prevention and mental health awareness.”

The Solution

Together with top psychiatrists, we can create a Beauty Profs Talk training for hair professionals which consists of:

  • identifying warning signs
  • asking the right questions of a client
  • listening with empathy and without judgement, and finally
  • guiding them towards getting the help they need.

“It’s a non-clinical, non-judgemental environment.”

The Outcome

Beauty Profs Talk will be proud of saving several lives by enabling clients to talk about their problems to an empathetic ear.

Getting people to find the much-needed help and resources.
